"Extraire by Christina Carter (Charalambides, Obscuress, et al.) is her twenty-sixth solo album, the first to be centered around the accordion and voice. 

A fiery meditation of exceptional depth, Extraire is comprised of four pieces, each around ten minutes long, that form a porous geometry of cloth, lung, tone and air. 

“Horse Gallop Confused” 

It is said, “The space between heaven and earth is like the bellows in a forge. When empty, it does not subside. When full, it constantly exhales.” It is said, “Thus we are the victims of the pairs of opposites. The Pleroma is rent within us.”

“Bouquet Suspended Rays”

If I shiver in the face of death, if I hold something other than this poisoned fruit, if I am Somewhere Under the Rainbow, if my aria shines black light.

“Garment Bellows Fold”

When you come to the one who asks for you, leave your cunning on the road. It is better for your heart to glisten in your eyes. When you speak, remember the mask you were given.

“Structure of the Hearts”

An animal hiss. Two voices interlace like serpents. We who are dreaming must awake. The rest are sent away to dream.
