La Festa delle Rane – Che mi Guardi Attraverso Una Fiamma [CS]

It’s impossible not to be totally captivated by this.  Lucia’s explorative, imperfect song-writing leans into a sense of cranky, domesticated nostalgia and soft melancholy - songs (you can just about call them that) are just about held together by a loose thread of warbling melodica melody or gently strummed campfire guitar.  But it also deals in juxtaposition - Lucia’s distinctive singing voice lands high in the register, an intimate falsetto that adds an endearing child-like quality which combined with combined with twinkling percussion, glockenspiel, organ creates an kaleidoscopic cosmos.  Just like shaking up a snow globe and watching a private microcosm come to life, La Festa Delle Rane (literally The Frogs Party) feels at home alongside the child-like wonder of French DIY duo Klimperei, Pascal Comelade’s naive side or introverted psychedelia of Aki Tsuyuko.  Build yourself a den and climb inside."
