Moving from rhythmically punctuated volleys to howling passages of scraping metallic slide and piercing feedback tones, the half-hour captured on the LP is both relentless in its intensity and strikingly dynamic. Unleashing a shape-shifting barrage of stuttering fuzz sourced from his maladroit string mangling, at several points the continuous bombardment is dramatically interrupted by silence before recommencing with renewed vigour. Far from a one-dimensional wall of noise, the performance’s hyper-active articulation and continuously shifting timbre find Fusinato channelling the stratospheric post-free-jazz blowouts of Masayuki “Jojo” Takayanagi.
